Hilton Head Island is one of the easiest places in the Southeast to fall in love with as a wedding destination: wide, quiet beaches, marsh views at sunset, live oaks draped in Spanish moss and resorts that know how to take care of a wedding weekend. If you’re starting to plan, the first two questions are usually the same: how much does a Hilton Head wedding cost, and which venue is right for us?
We’re Georgia & Micah, Charleston-based wedding photographers who travel throughout the Lowcountry, including Hilton Head, Bluffton and Savannah. Below we’ve pulled together published pricing and market data, the island’s best wedding venues, and the costs couples most often forget. Treat every number as a starting point: venues update pricing every year, so always ask for a current, all-in quote.

According to The Wedding Report’s 2025 market data for the Hilton Head Island–Bluffton–Beaufort area, the average wedding costs about $36,478, with an average of 127–137 guests. The median spend is about $18,773, which tells you that a smaller number of high-end resort weddings pull the average up.
For a more typical Hilton Head celebration, The Wedding Report’s 2026 estimate for a 125-guest wedding on Hilton Head Island is $38,160–$46,640, or roughly $340 per guest. Larger 250-guest weddings are estimated at about $71,000–$87,000. Luxury weddings at properties like Montage Palmetto Bluff or Sea Pines regularly land well above these averages.
Here’s how The Wedding Report’s 2026 Hilton Head Island estimate for 125 guests breaks down across the biggest categories:
| Category | Hilton Head estimate | Share of budget |
|---|---|---|
| Venue (site, catering, bar, rentals) | $15,754 – $19,254 | ~41% |
| Photography & video | $6,604 – $8,627 | ~12% |
| Entertainment | $4,389 – $5,365 | ~11.5% |
| Flowers & décor | $2,804 – $3,428 | ~7% |
| Attire & accessories | $2,397 – $2,929 | ~6% |
| Planner / coordinator | $1,628 – $1,990 | ~4% |
| Transportation | $1,218 – $1,488 | ~3% |
| Invitations | $549 – $671 | ~1.5% |
| Cake | $483 – $591 | ~1.3% |
Your venue is where most of your budget goes. On Hilton Head, couples generally choose between a full-service resort, a private club, a historic or garden setting, or a beach ceremony paired with a separate reception. Below are the island’s standout options, with published starting prices where available. Starting prices usually cover the venue or a base package only; food, bar, service charges and tax are typically added on top.
Sea Pines is the most iconic wedding destination on the island. Ceremony options include the 18th lawn of Harbour Town Golf Links with the red-and-white Harbour Town Lighthouse behind you, Sea Pines Beach and the sprawling Liberty Oak. Receptions are hosted in spaces like the Champions Ballroom at the Harbour Town Clubhouse, the Atlantic Room at the Sea Pines Beach Club, the Magnolia Room and the Heritage Room. Nearby, the Harbour Town Yacht Club is a more intimate option for smaller guest counts.
Cost: WeddingWire lists Sea Pines Resort weddings starting around $20,000 and the Harbour Town Yacht Club starting around $11,650. Sea Pines also charges a gate fee for visitors not staying in the community, so plan for guest transportation and access.
Photographer’s note: Harbour Town at golden hour is one of the most photogenic places in the Lowcountry. The marina, lighthouse and sunset over Calibogue Sound give us an incredible range of portraits within a few minutes’ walk.
About 25–30 minutes from the island in Bluffton, Montage Palmetto Bluff is the region’s top luxury wedding destination. Its ceremony settings include the Somerset Chapel (up to about 185 guests) and the smaller May River Chapel (up to about 120), plus lawns along the May River that can host several hundred guests. Indoor receptions take place in the Wilson Ballroom (up to about 500) or the Oak Ballroom (up to about 175).
Cost: Montage doesn’t publish wedding pricing, and it’s one of the most premium venues in the Southeast. Expect food and beverage minimums and a total budget well above the Hilton Head average. Request a custom proposal for your date and guest count.
Photographer’s note: The live oak allées, river views and the white Somerset Chapel make Palmetto Bluff a dream for timeless, editorial wedding photos.
If you want your guests to walk from their rooms to the ceremony, Hilton Head’s oceanfront resorts are the easiest choice. The Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island, the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort, the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa, Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort and Beach House, Hilton Head all offer beachfront ceremony spaces with ballrooms or lawns for the reception, plus room blocks for guests.
Cost: Published starting prices on WeddingWire and The Knot include about $8,000 at Sonesta, $6,000 at Beach House, $5,000 at Hilton Head Island Beach & Tennis Resort and $2,500 at the Westin. Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort lists packages from about $2,000. These are base prices; your final cost will depend mostly on catering and bar per guest.
Photographer’s note: Oceanfront venues can be windy. We plan portraits on the beach for the last hour before sunset, and work with your planner to keep veils and florals secure.
For a polished, country-club feel with more privacy than a resort, consider the Port Royal Club House, Moss Creek, the Country Club of Hilton Head or Palmetto Hall. Many offer golf-course or marsh views and in-house catering. Some clubs require a member sponsor, so ask about access early.
Cost: WeddingWire and The Knot list Port Royal starting around $8,000 and Moss Creek around $10,000.
On the north end of the island, the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn offers a more relaxed, natural setting with live oaks, open lawns and historic buildings. It’s a great fit for couples who want a garden or rustic Lowcountry feel and the freedom to bring in their own caterer and rentals. Contact the museum directly for current rental rates.
A beach ceremony is one of the most affordable ways to get married on Hilton Head. The Town of Hilton Head Island requires a free beach wedding permit, and you’ll need to submit your request at least 30 days before your ceremony. Note that Islanders Beach Park is closed for construction from September 8, 2026 through May 31, 2027, so permits won’t be approved there during that time. Check the Town’s current beach rules on what’s allowed, and pair your ceremony with a nearby restaurant, resort or rental home for the reception.
| Venue | Setting | Published starting price* |
|---|---|---|
| The Sea Pines Resort | Lighthouse, golf lawn, beach | ~$20,000 |
| Harbour Town Yacht Club | Marina, intimate | ~$11,650 |

| Moss Creek | Private club, marsh | ~$10,000 |

| Beach House, Hilton Head | Oceanfront resort | ~$6,000 |
| HHI Beach & Tennis Resort | Oceanfront resort | ~$5,000 |
| The Westin | Oceanfront resort | ~$2,500 |
| Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort | Beach, resort | ~$2,000 |
| Town beach ceremony | Beach | Free permit (+ rentals) |
Spring (March–May) and fall (late September–November) are peak wedding seasons, with comfortable temperatures and beautiful light. They’re also when venues and room blocks book up first and prices are highest. Summer is peak family vacation season on the island, so expect high room rates, heat, humidity and afternoon storms. Winter is the island’s quietest season and often the best value, with lower room rates and more open dates.
Hurricane season runs June through November, so ask every vendor about their weather and rescheduling policies and consider wedding insurance.
For most couples, a Hilton Head wedding is a destination weekend, even for guests driving in from Charleston, Savannah or Atlanta. You usually aren’t paying for guest rooms, but room rates affect who can attend and how long they stay. Many resorts require a room-block commitment or minimum-night stay as part of the wedding contract, so read those terms carefully. Vacation rental homes in Sea Pines and Palmetto Dunes are popular for wedding parties and family.
Service charges and tax: Resort food and beverage quotes typically add a service charge plus sales tax on top of menu prices. Always ask for the all-in number.
Weather backup: Beach and lawn ceremonies need a real rain plan, whether that’s an indoor ballroom on hold or a tent with flooring and lighting.
Transportation: Shuttles between hotels, the ceremony and the reception, plus gate access fees for gated communities like Sea Pines.
Welcome party and farewell brunch: Destination weekends often include extra events, each with its own food, drink and coverage costs.
Vendor travel: Many top Lowcountry vendors are based in Charleston or Savannah. Ask whether travel fees or overnight stays are included in their quotes.
The Wedding Report’s 2026 Hilton Head estimate budgets about $5,600–$7,600 for photography and video combined. For luxury resort weddings, experienced photographers usually sit higher, especially for full-day coverage with two photographers. Our Charleston wedding photographer cost guide breaks down budget, mid-range and luxury tiers in detail.
Our Hilton Head wedding photography packages start at $8,000 and include full-day coverage, two photographers and 800+ edited, high-resolution images delivered within six weeks. Multi-day coverage is available for welcome parties, rehearsal dinners and farewell brunches.
One Hilton Head tip: build your timeline around sunset, not the clock. Golden hour over the marsh, the beach or Harbour Town is when the island looks its best, and it’s when we’ll want 20–30 minutes with just the two of you.
Choose a winter or weekday date. Off-peak dates often come with lower minimums and better room rates.
Trim the guest list. With per-guest costs around $340, every 10 guests removed can save roughly $3,000 or more.
Pair a beach ceremony with a restaurant reception. A free Town beach permit and a private dining room can cost far less than a full resort package.
Look for resort promotions. Resorts like Sea Pines periodically offer wedding promotions and weekend packages, so ask what’s available for your date.
Spend where it lasts. Flowers and favors are gone by Monday; your photos are what you’ll keep. Prioritize the vendors you care about most.
The Wedding Report’s 2025 market data puts the average wedding in the Hilton Head–Bluffton–Beaufort area at about $36,478, with a median of about $18,773. Its 2026 estimate for a 125-guest Hilton Head Island wedding is $38,160–$46,640.
WeddingWire lists Sea Pines Resort weddings starting around $20,000 and Harbour Town Yacht Club around $11,650. Your total will depend on guest count, catering, bar and the spaces you choose.
Montage Palmetto Bluff doesn’t publish wedding pricing. It’s one of the most luxurious venues in the Southeast, so plan for food and beverage minimums and a budget well above the area average. Request a custom proposal.
Yes. The Town of Hilton Head Island requires a free beach wedding permit, requested at least 30 days before your ceremony. Check the Town’s website for current beach rules and any temporary closures.
April, May, October and November offer the best weather and light, but they’re also the most in demand. For better value and availability, consider winter.
It depends on the venue. The area’s average wedding cost is generally in line with or below many Charleston estimates, but luxury properties like Sea Pines and Montage Palmetto Bluff are priced like premium Charleston venues. Guest lodging is often the bigger difference, since most Hilton Head guests need hotel rooms or rentals for the weekend.
