Marian Frances Events planned this picture-perfect wedding in Charleston at the Charleston Place Hotel, The Cedar Room CHS, and The Citadel 1842. From start to finish, every detail of this day reflected the couple’s love for Charleston’s rich history, architectural beauty, and Southern charm. It was the kind of wedding that reminds us exactly why we fell in love with capturing love stories in the Lowcountry.
The morning of the wedding began at the iconic Charleston Place Hotel, one of downtown Charleston’s most beloved luxury properties. With its classic architecture, grand interiors, and impeccable service, the hotel provided the perfect backdrop for the bridal preparation. The bride was stunning in a strapless, sweetheart neckline button-back gown featuring a chapel train and a chic side slit. Her hair was swept into an elegant updo and topped with a pearl-studded veil, while pearl-accented heels completed her look with timeless sophistication. The bridesmaids were dressed in various styles of steel grey silk dresses, creating a cohesive yet personalized bridal party aesthetic. For couples planning a Charleston Place Hotel wedding, the getting-ready suites offer incredible natural light, luxurious surroundings, and a central downtown location that makes logistics effortless on your big day.
The wedding ceremony was held at The Citadel 1842 chapel, one of Charleston’s most breathtaking and historic wedding venues. Known for its soaring ceilings and stunning stained-glass windows, the chapel flooded with gorgeous natural light that made every image feel like a painting. For this Christmas-season celebration, the chapel was adorned with festive red bows on the pews, adding a warm and romantic holiday ambiance to the already-stunning space. An adorable flower girl in a peach tulle dress sprinkled petals down the aisle as the ceremony began, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration. The couple exchanged vows beneath the chapel’s magnificent architecture, surrounded by family and friends who had gathered to witness the beginning of their forever. If you’re searching for a Citadel wedding in Charleston, SC, this venue offers a truly one-of-a-kind setting — steeped in history, rich with character, and endlessly photogenic.
After the ceremony, guests headed to The Cedar Room CHS for the reception — a beautifully industrial-chic event space in the heart of downtown Charleston. Guests signed in on a photo album of the couple’s most memorable moments together— CUTE! White linens covered round tables and were decorated with white taper candles and floating candles in clear glass hurricane holders. Elegant white floral centerpieces in clear vases tied the aesthetic together beautifully. Guests enjoyed street tacos for dinner — a fun, crowd-pleasing choice that brought a casual energy to an otherwise elegant evening. A stunning red velvet cake covered in white buttercream frosting served as the showstopper dessert. Personalized iced coffees were distributed as a fun and memorable wedding favor. Guests then hit the dance floor to celebrate the new Mr. & Mrs. long into the night, with the couple keeping the party alive by hosting an after party for their closest guests. We absolutely loved being a part of this stunning day!

If you’re dreaming of a Charleston wedding and considering venues like The Citadel chapel, the Charleston Place Hotel, or The Cedar Room CHS, here are a few things we’ve learned from capturing weddings at these iconic spaces. First, book your venue as early as possible — The Citadel chapel in particular has limited availability and fills up quickly, especially during peak spring and fall seasons. Charleston Place Hotel is an ideal home base for out-of-town guests, offering a seamless experience for wedding parties who want luxury accommodations right in the heart of the city. The Cedar Room is a stunning blank-canvas reception venue with exposed brick, high ceilings, and beautiful natural light, so it works beautifully with a variety of aesthetics from modern to romantic. When it comes to photography, lean into Charleston’s incredible architecture and streetscapes — the historic downtown district offers endless backdrops for portraits. Working with an experienced Charleston wedding photographer who knows these venues well means you’ll get the most out of every location throughout the day.
