When Amy and Zach reached out to us about their engagement session in Charleston, SC, they had one request: something on the water. And honestly? We couldn’t think of anything more perfectly Charleston than a golden-hour sailboat session on the harbor.

As Charleston, SC engagement photographers, we’ve shot sessions all over this incredible city — from the cobblestone streets of the French Quarter to the marshes of Sullivan’s Island — but there’s something truly magical about being out on the water as the sun starts to drop. The light, the movement, the breeze off the coast — it creates a natural, editorial atmosphere that no studio ever could.

The Session

Amy wore a stunning silk slip dress with pearl criss-cross straps at the front that draped elegantly down the back, paired with delicate pearl earrings that caught every ray of light. Zach kept it classic — a crisp white button-down and khaki pants that felt effortlessly coastal. Together, they looked like they had stepped straight out of the pages of a nautical editorial.

The couple brought a gorgeous charcuterie board and popped a bottle of champagne as we sailed, and let us tell you — it made for some of the most natural, joyful images we’ve ever captured. There’s nothing like a glass of bubbly to bring out real laughter, real connection, and real love. Amy’s oval engagement ring caught the sunlight beautifully, and we made sure to capture every angle.
